Aiming to protect the environment, Mr. Nguyen Phu Tung – General Director of Loofaa Joint Stock Company has researched and utilized loofah fiber, a product that was once considered an agricultural waste, to become a valuable raw material for production, bringing consumers “green fashion” products. PV: Hello Mr. Nguyen Phu Tung! What chance brought you to be attached to loofah and “green fashion”?
Mr. Nguyen Phu Tung: In Vietnam, loofah is a familiar food in every family’s meal and old loofah is often thrown away. Meanwhile, people still have the habit of using a lot of disposable plastic items and consumer products that are difficult to decompose. Through the process of research and learning, I realized that loofah can make many consumer products to serve life. So I and some colleagues built the first loofah growing area of nearly 2 hectares in a district in Dak Lak province.

After having the raw materials, we proactively researched and made some products from loofah, organized a design contest for workers in the company… From there, many of our products were better received by consumers, which is also the motivation for us to continue launching diverse products for the kitchen, bathroom, fashion, etc.
PV: Could you please introduce some details about fashion products made from loofah?
Mr. Nguyen Phu Tung: Currently, our company has launched nearly 50 product models made from loofah, including: bathroom items, kitchen items, fashion products and home decoration products.
We affirm that products made from loofah all have the mission of protecting the environment, so they are all capable of self-decomposing into the ground.
PV: In the future, to protect the environment, how will Loofaa continue to develop?
Mr. Nguyen Phu Tung: We are continuing to expand the raw material area to grow loofah for fiber, proactively providing input materials, avoiding interruptions in production. We will continue to maintain a closed, chemical-free planting and harvesting process. Research and launch more products to serve the needs of consumers.
PV: What message do you and Loofaa want to send to everyone?
Mr. Nguyen Phu Tung: We hope that consumers will raise their awareness of environmental protection, limit the use of products that are difficult to decompose in daily life, take advantage of reusable items and prioritize the use of environmentally friendly products.
